VEmesh D2D – Wireless Extension to DALI Products
Powered by the high-range sub-1GHz wireless technology defined in IEC62386-104 standard for Wireless DALI, all D2D products (VEmesh Wireless Extension to DALI) follow DALI1 standard, as well as DALI2 parts as they become available. In Europe, VEmesh fully utilizes all the available frequency band, by following the polite spectrum access compliance requirements to CCA for AFA+LBT, thus achieving the highest penetration, propagation distance and robustness in range.
VEmesh Wireless Extension to DALI (D2D) Products are offered in a host of form factors for fitting the various needs of our customers.
VEmesh D2D Bridge
A VEmesh D2D network comprises of one VEmesh Gateway and a number of VEmesh Bridge Nodes.
Capable to connect to up to 8 standard DALI devices or sensors, the VEmesh Bridge forms a DALI loop, with no DALI power supply required. It also does not require any DALI address of its own.
Through this connection, the Bridge receives all DALI signals from the DALI devices that it is connected (such as LED drivers replies and input devices’ events), and forwards them to the VEmesh wireless network. In the opposite direction, the VEmesh Bridge receives the DALI Master commands by wireless and forwards them on its DALI loop to the devices that it is connected.
In addition to standard DALI drivers or luminaires, the D2D Bridges can connect to switches, presence detectors and sensors for standard DALI.
Standard D2D Bridges’ power supply is 110-220VAC. A 24VDC model has lower size and lower cost model, thus fitting drivers that can supply auxiliary power output, such as for Retail lighting control. VEmesh D2D standard Bridge has a plastic case and its dimensions are 149.5mm x 40mm x 28.1mm. The DC Bridge dimensions’ are 94mm x 45mm x 27.5mm.

VEmesh D2D Bridge Module
VEmesh Bridge Module, or in short Module, is similar in functionality to the standard VEmesh Bridge, except for the factor form and the power supply. Its small size and lack of case are appropriate to its OEM use by lamp manufacturers.
The Module requires an external power supply of 3.7÷5.5VDC at 160 mA maximum, and its dimensions are 57 x 23 millimeters (2235 x 915 mil).
VEmesh D2D Gateway
On the RF side, a D2D type of wireless network is formed by a VEmesh Gateway and its Nodes. On the DALI side, the Gateway connects to a standard DALI Master (sometimes called DALI Router) on its DALI loop, with the connection following DALI standard IEC 62386.
Through this connection, the Gateway receives all DALI commands from the controller, including those for commissioning, and forwards them on RF to the VEmesh wireless network. In the opposite direction the Gateway receives the devices, sensors and application controllers’ replies and other signals, and forwards them to the DALI Master.
One D2D Gateway supports 1 to 64 Bridges, and up to 64 DALI addresses, as customary on a DALI loop. It does so without requiring any DALI address of its own.
The Gateway is powered by an external standard 5V Power Supply, available off-the-shelf from any appropriate vendor. The Gateway, in a 80mm x 115.1mm x 27.4mm (3.15” x 4.53” x 1.08″) metal case, can be also mounted on a DIN-rail.
VEmesh D2D Toolkit
VEmesh D2D Toolkit is a computerized tool designed to speed up and facilitate the deployment and the maintenance of large scale deployments of D2D systems. The Toolkit’s main task is the wireless configuration of the D2D elements – Gateway and Bridges – for operation in adjacent or otherwise collocated areas. Other tasks are related to the commissioning, the setting and the testing of the network elements.
The 3 parts of the Toolkit are a Programmer Unit, a Tablet Application and a Tablet. The Programmer Unit is a dedicated hardware product that is similar in appearance and dimensions to a standard D2D Gateway. The software is an Android application designed to execute on any standard 7” Tablet with Android. The Tablet serves as the Toolkit I/O and Power Supply.
The Android application is available for downloading below and on Google Play.
